MIST SKY

This mist sky is

a ceiling painted gray

hovering just above

shopping center lights

at dusk.

Sky so flat,

it wraps us—

a soft gray blanket

comfort to a frightened child.

Mist descending ,

to render lights splotches

cars crawling in tangled webs

ferries traveling by ear

car horns, fog horns, buoy bells.

Slow rush home.
