A TV announcer in gas mask

reports poison mist,

from a chemical plant,

envelopes pines; feathers

of fallen birds litter

the ground, blow like leaves

in late Fall; cats die

under limp dogwoods;

people duct-tape their windows.

The President says,

“Everything is okay.”
