FACING THE CORNER

In a hospital bed he faces

the corner knowing

there is no window. There is no

door either, although

doctors, nurses, visitors, enter

speak, administer treatment

in vain, bring food for which

he has no appetite. Facing

the corner is the brave

thing—no sense pretending

there are windows,

let alone a door.
