CALM DAY ON
THE WATER
It is quiet. A couple sits in their boat fishing, “Nice day.” “Should we go to the Bloom’s party?” “I’m concerned about Harold—he didn’t look well.” Her husband thinks of how later he will lick her breasts, she thinks how she’d like him to go down on her. Across the bay a fisherman casts again and again, wonders if he will get a raise, reminds himself to fertilize the lawn and bring the car in for an oil change. He thinks of a cold beer at home, his plump wife, hoping she’ll suck him dry tonight. A cabin cruiser comes up the channel, a husband and wife, son and teenage daughter. “Is your homework done?” “When do you have to be at soccer practice?” “Don’t worry I’ll have your uniform cleaned in time.” The wife wants a little peace and quiet, to go off by herself, have a gin and tonic, read a trashy book, use her vibrator --sex with her husband is so full of demands. Their daughter, a high school senior, wears a string bikini, push up bra top. Her fifteen year old brother is turned on. They round the first buoy. |
