air dissolves into water

The early air dissolves into water,

and forest soil smells peaty-pungent.

Now thick clouds slide east,

leaving feathery wisps and the sun’s

welcome appearance

shining on a spruce whose

blue-green covered branches look

like wool-gloved fingers

covered with droplets of rain

sparkling in bright sunlight.
